
Ruth Eluned Madoc-Jones is a professional screenwriter; and director, dramaturge and creator of theatre, dance and (new) opera in Canada for over 25 years.
Ruth was born in Bangor, Wales and grew up on the West Coast of British Columbia. She has worked across the country with theatre companies and artists in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax. Her original work with her companies Blah-Blah Troupe, Nunzinred and Les Vaches established Ruth as an important and innovative creative force in Canadian performance. Ruth has taught acting, directing and playwriting at The National Theatre School of Canada, University X (formerly Ryerson), Humber College and Bishop's University.
Ruth recently completed the renowned BELL MEDIA WRITING FOR TELEVISION program at the Canadian Film Centre. Her original writing includes pilots for Deliver Me, a one-hour serialized thriller in English and French set in Quebec, Turn up the Night, a challenging coming of age story set on the West Coast of BC in the 1980s, and Vindication, a police drama set in Toronto. Ruth was privileged to attend the Banff International Media Festival and work as story editor on the hit show Private Eyes on Global.
Ruth Eluned Madoc-Jones is the winner of the K.M. Hunter Directing Award, the John Hirsch Directing Award, and the Corus Internship Award. She is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and The Canadian Film Centre.
